My WWOOFing Info
In this section I will be posting about who I am and what I have to offer the WWOOFing community!
I built a page for my basic skills including some videos, you can view it here!
I built a page telling about my life’s path and a little about my philosophy. You can view it here!
Here is a summary of my skills:
* Webmaster:
I am very proficient with “Word Press”! I currently have over 35 active websites. If you don’t know what Word Press is… It’s a platform for building websites that is an open source platform. That means that experts from all sorts of fields are welcome to build “plugins and programs” that run on that platform. I don’t do this personally, I am not a programmer. My main skill is “keyword marketing” and I use the Word Press platform to build my sites.
Keyword marketing is a skill that targets specific niches through specific keyword phrases! I then build a webpage about that phrase and optimize that page so it can show up on the first page of Google. Sometimes it is easy and sometimes it takes a little effort. There are 2 parts to ranking a site on the first page of Google. The first part is something a webmaster can control completely and it’s called “on page factors”! The second is “off page factors” and it is a mix of inbound links and how well rated your site and content is by the search engines! This can only partially be controlled by the webmaster or keyword marketer.
So what does that mean? If you have a website or are planning to get one, you should think about this! Unless you are directly marketing to a group of people, you need to be found through the search engines. People search for what they are looking for by typing “keyword phrases” into the search engine box. The search engine will come back with the most relevant results for that search query. If you are selling “widgets in Idaho”, than you need to rank your site for that search phrase. Many website owners don’t know this! They have a site built and then wonder why there phone isn’t ringing! You need to optimize your site for the keyword phrases in the area you are selling your goods! So think like your customer… What would you type in the Google search box to find the service you are offering! Not your company name! General service keyword phrases like, “Daytona Beach handyman“, “Port Orange Florida Painting Service“, “Daytona Beach Internet Marketing“!
Those 3 links are actual websites that are mine! Those are targeted keyword phrases linked directly to my sites under the “anchor Text” of the keyword phrase that will bring me money! Make sense? So if you figure out what phrases your consumer will use to find you and your competitors, you can target those phrases and out rank them! To get inbound links is easy! Just create an free account on any of these social networks! Make sure that you fill out the profile and post a link to your website in your profile. You can then write a short description of your services and use the tags section to target your keyword phrases! I put together a FREE 55 video tutorial on “how to build a high ranking Word Press Website“,click here!
* SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Consultant:
The most important thing that any website owner ever does is consult with a SEO Consultant! Many webmaster either don’t know about it or are just ignorant of it. What I mean is that if you could just build a website and get rich, everyone would do it and go on vacation! That is just not realistic. The truth is that it takes a great effort to rank on the first page and be found by generic web traffic! Generic web traffic is traffic that finds you without you paying for an add or marketing directly to them. That’s what I do! I don’t pay for web or print marketing! I build websites and target specific keyword phrases and then link to those pages until I rank! So how do I do that? I have over 100 social networks that I post links and content to that points back at my websites! Yes it took a long time to set them up!
I also use several services that auto post links to my sites on social networks. Before your run off and start buying links, BEWARE! Buying links can get you sand boxed and actually hurt you more than it helps! In fact it can bury your site deep in the search results forever! I only do “social bookmarking” links! Yes there is a difference! I don’t care for all the “page rank 9″ crap that claims to get me to the top in 4 hours! This can back fire and your site may never bounce back! Invest the time in creating social network accounts like with Digg, and be safe! You could also hire me!
* Affiliate Marketing:
What is affiliate marketing? There are tens of thousands of affiliate programs or referral programs out there on the web. In the side bar of this very site there is a banner for an affiliate company. Here is a link to that same company to a site that passes traffic through to them and there “No Contract Home Security System“! When someone passes through the banner ad or through a site that was build as a giant banner ad…
I get paid! There are affiliate programs for everything from luxury cruises to book on tape! They are all free to join and free to promote if you do it through your website of personally controlled social networks. It will not make you filthy rich… Most affiliate programs pay around 10% or less! The most popular is “Amazon” which pays very poorly! The second thing you need to look at with an affiliate program is how long will you get credit for the lead! So here is how it works! A person clicks through a link from your site to the affiliates site. If they make a purchase you get a commission. If they leave you have a certain period of time where if they come back you will still get a commission if they buy! Affiliate marketing is a great way to make a few bucks unless you are going to make it a career! To make bib bucks you will have to invest your time and read a lot of stuff on the subject! I have spent 2 years and have just started to make enough money to get by!
* Handyman (All The Following Areas):
For the majority of my adult life I have been in the construction trade! I have a ridiculous amount of hands on experience in all the following trades! I will list them by category so that you have an idea of all the things that I can do. Since 1999 I have been completely self employed in my own business. For several years before that I was partially self employed. And since I graduated in 1991 I have been in the construction trade to one extent or another. For 2 years I worked for a master plumber, doing service calls mainly on residential homes! For 1 year I worked for a HVAC company setting HVAC units in new homes!
Plumbing:
Toilets: I have rebuilt, replaced, or repaired a thousand toilet in my career! I am a toilet expert! Yeah!
Sinks: I have replaced so many bathroom and kitchen sink faucets that I have lost track of the total. I ran a special for several years where a homeowner could save over a plumber by almost 50% and hire me! Most of them would take that savings and get a faucet that was so high end that there really wasn’t any savings!
Showers: I have replaced many shower valves and cartridges. I also know how to solder and replace the valve assembly itself too.
Water Heaters: I have replaced over 300 water heaters in my career. I have also repaired the elements and relief valve on quite a few too. However, most of the time if the water heater is more than 6 years old it gets replaced. Not that it won’t last longer. But in the last decade there have been some really cheap water heaters pushed onto the market!
Water Supply: With the advances in plastic pipe running water supply is easy! It’s just primer, glue, and connect! If you are running a hot water line make sure that it is CPVC. PVC pipe can be used for cold water applications.
Water Waste: Waste water is the main problem with any plumbing application. I can install sewer injector pumps and run waste line to a main sewer or septic tank area. I also on this site included a tutorial on how to install a “temporary septic tank and leeching field“. However this is illegal in any place where there are plumbing codes that are enforced! 8-O So don’t tell the code enforcement officer that Tom said it was ok! But if you are in a pinch and need a place to contain sewer water that article is worth a look at!
Sewer Clearing: The worse part about being in the plumbing trade! I have cleared hundreds of sewer and can use a large sewer machine snake. However, most sewer blocks can be removed with a simple device called an “expansion ball thingy”! Actually until just now I really never thought about what it is called! lol It’s a small device that goes on a garden hose and then gets inserted into the blocked pipe. You turn on the hose and the device expands to make a seal and fill the pipe with water to capacity! Once it is full the water pressure causes the blockage to push through to the sewer in most cases! Ahhh! Clean hands!
Did I miss anything? I have probably done that too!
Electrical:
I am not an electrician! I know a lot about electricity, like don’t touch it if you aren’t certain what you are doing! That being said…
Fixtures: I have no problem replacing light fixtures or any fixture that already has existing wiring in place!
Outlets & Switches: I have no problem replacing outlets and switches or upgrading them to dimmer style switches.
Fans: I can install ceiling fans with my eyes closed… But I promise to keep them open! I have installed over 500 in my career! I can also install vent fans, bathroom fans, and attic gable and roof fans!
Carpentry:
Doors: I can install doors with or without the frame. I prefer to install doors with the frame included. This keeps from having problems long term with the door acting funny! I can also install all types of locks, knobs, knockers, and peep devices!
Trim: I can install baseboard, chair rail, and crown molding. Crown molding is the one I have the least experience in! Notice I underlined and bolded that one.
Shelves: I can build shelves and racks. I am not a finished carpenter. That means that if you are looking for something built out of mahogany(expensive wood), them you should consider someone else. I can build construction, storage grade shelves that will hold up an elephant! If you have a shop I am a great organizer!
Framing: I have framed out basements that I finished off. I am not a builder, but I can get by! If you are looking for someone to build small stable structures, I can do that! If you are building a house, I can’t! I do not have a builder license and cannot get permits and the other things needed to pass building inspections.
Landscaping:
Irrigation: I can run, service, and install lawn irrigation and garden irrigation! I know about zone valves, timers, and supplemental systems that inject fertilizers. I can lay out and design irrigation systems in most applications!
Trees: I can run a chainsaw really well! I can cut, prune, and plant trees too!
Ponds: I can design and build ponds including fountains! I am a plumber by trade! I love the sound of a fountain while meditating. The sound of water is a true healing force!
Mulching: This is just a labor intensive thing. I can edge and design flower beds. I can mulch these areas with rock, wood chips, or sand! I have designed desert scape, flower beds, and rock beds!
Gardening: I can run a tiller and can do basic planting! I do not know very much about gardening, but I am sure to learn through the WWOOFing program! I want to learn about gardening and organic farming.
Painting:
Power washing: I can run a power washer really well. Doesn’t matter if it is low or high psi. I have washed decks, houses, and stripped driveways to the bare concrete!
Interior: I can drywall, spackle, and caulk as prep for painting. I can paint trim, walls, wood floors, and ceilings. I can work on ladders or scaffolding!
Exterior: I can do all phases of exterior painting. Including metal, wood, or brick. I can paint exterior overhangs and can work from a ladder or scaffolding.
Gutters: I can install gutters and down spouts. I can install rain barrels and rain water catching basins! I can fix leaks in gutters and install gutter guards!
There are probably a hundred other things that I can do in the construction trades! Just ask in the comments form below. All comment come to me for approval, so I will not post anything like phone numbers or personal info if you contact me!
* Reiki:
I am seriously interested and use Reiki every day!!! It is something that I feel all around me and know that it is a part of the path I am on! I have completed almost all of my attunements and didn’t finish because I had a falling out with my Reiki master! I came to a place where I feel more than I know! I really don’t feel OK with selling Reiki as my main means of lifestyle! I think that stems from something in my childhood that is unresolved. I ended up getting to know my teacher better than I should have. I went to help her and her husband and discovered a completely different side of her and his character. I am sorry if that seems like a judgement! Sometimes our lessons reveal to us an example of what we don’t want to be.
I prefer to give and receive Reiki as a gift and not in exchange for money! I will trade with others all day long for Spiritual gifts and talents! I can really feel energy and in the past 2 years have been on a serious Spiritual path. I have dreams and intuitions that are profound. I see signs all around me that cause me to turn left or right! I feel led to let go of a certain character and way of being and trust that Spirit or Source will take me where I need to go. That is a big part of why I am going WWOOFing! To let go and trust! I am very grateful for my path and life. I love to bless things, animals, and people! I love crystals, nature, and sage! I love to build amulets and altars! In facts one of the first things I do anywhere I go is build a small altar where I sleep! If you are a Reiki master I would love to cross attune with you and to have some deep conversation! Namaste!
